The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has unveiled a grand plan this week which if it comes off will see 90,000 homes built in the capital within the next six years.

That’s a lot of new builds and given that his ambitious plan has Government funding to the tune of £3.15bn it looks likely to happen.

Obviously there will be a lot of political shenanigans before the ground works of developments across London start getting laid.

However, if you’re an estate agency in the capital which doesn’t have a land and new Homes plan you better start thinking about one and quickly.

The political will to address the shortage of affordable homes in London and indeed the entire country is strong. Various politicians of different political persuasions have declared it Public Priority Number One.

Along with new builds comes a great opportunity for agents to win new instructions but as with any emerging market it’s going to be very competitive.
